OK. so after reading several incorrect websites, i FINALLY figured out how this works. select both ends with the direct select tool. Then use ALT + COMMAND + J to find the average. in the box that opens, choose “Both”. then use COMMAND + J to join. In the box that opens, select “Smooth”. It will make a nice smooth transition between the two points. I’m so stoked i finally figured this out. I hope this helps!!
